Hooded Mort

Dennis Burton was a district attorney during World War II who grew tired of watching guilty criminals walk free, so he adopted the guise of "The Laughing Mask" to hunt the guilty down and shoot them in cold blood. Remember how everyone believed comic books were kiddy-faire back in the golden age? Yeah, not so much. The Laughing Mask will be re-appearing in the The Twelve, a miniseries from Marvel which will be written by J. Michael Straczynski and drawn by Chris Weston. Look for it in Spring of 2008.

As you may or may not know, Christmas is coming up. One of the many presents my mother bought me this year was Stan Lee's Amazing Marvel Universe, written by Roy Thomas, and since I'm not good at waiting until the 25th to open my presents, I was able to discover this new Mort. So, what does the "H" stand for, and who's under the hood?

A Very Funny Mort

I think I reached the pinnacle of Morts last post. He was so morty, that I completely forgot who he was and have had to spend the last 30 minutes trying to figure it out myself. Nonetheless, I suceeded and am prepared to tell you that our last mort was Prince Dezan, a skrull that was imprisoned by his own people for the crime of wanting peace. He was rescued by a rebel faction of skrulls and aided by the Avengers so that he could assume his proper role as heir to the Skrull empire. Unfortunately, almost immediately after defeating his opponents, a "hyperwave" bomb exploded and robbed the skrulls of their shape-changing powers, with every skrull being stuck in whatever form they were in when the bomb exploded. It's kind of the equivalent of the skrulls 9/11, which happened shortly after George Bush became president. I am not versed in Marvel mythos enough to know how the skrulls got their shape-changing power back, or what happened to Dezan after this incident. If anyone knows, post it in the comments section.

The new Mort is actually a very old one, but one that you will see on your local comic book store's shelves in the next few weeks. Who is he?
