Politically incorrect Mort

It is no secret that comics have their fill of characters who would not be considered politically correct. Truth be told, this is one of the things that I really like about comic books, in so much as they give kind of a month by month look at the world as it is (hold the laughter, please). This has been the really fun part of my 40 years of the Avengers DVD-ROM, stumbling onto the occasional "socially aware" issue that has the Avengers combatting the evils opposing African-Americans, Women, and Native Americans. Of course, all of these issues are written by Stan Lee or Roy Thomas, neither of whom were African-American, women, or Native Americans. Where am I going with all of this? I don't have any clue, but here is a picture of one such politically incorrect mort. Who is he?

Pause

Randy is right, the last Mort was Forbush Man, a comedic character featured in the Marvel comic Not Brand Echhh!, which was popular in the late 60's. I hope you can forgive me, but I'm going to hesitate on posting a new mort until the situation with Booger seems a little more clear. Thanks for understanding.

Home Made Mort

I'm so disappointed that Randy got so close to the truth of this mort but didn't follow through on figuring it out. His detective skills are sound, as the mort in question is the most recent incarnation of a Freedom Fighter character. In this case, we have Jenna Raleigh, the grandniece of the original Red Bee. While the original used trained bees to fight crime, Jenna uses robotic versions equipped with electrical stingers. She also wears a "battle suit" that allows her to fly and gives her added strength.

Okay, I warned you that I would soon start using my newly acquired knowledge of golden age Marvel history on this blog, and the day has come. Today's mort was never an avenger or a member of the Fantastic Four, but he does appear in several house ads back in the day. Plus, as an added hint to Randy and Regan (Does he read this anymore?), they made a heroclick out of this mort (sort of). So, good luck!

A Bee-utiful Mort

Randy pretty much nailed our last mort, The Fantastic Four's alien nemesis Impossible Man. Much like DC's Mr. Mxyzptlk, the Impossible Man is an other dimensional entity that appears on earth every so often to play tricks on the heroes to relieve his own personal boredom. The primary difference is that while DC's imp has reality warping powers, the Impossible Man is apparently "limited" to changing his own shape, although this isn't much of a limit since he has been able to shapeshift into everything from a spaceship to Galactus himself.

I'm strongly tempted to use my newfound knowledge of golden age Avengers and Fantastic Four to find a mort you would never guess, but I'll refrain from that for now. Instead, I will return to my DC roots for today's mort, a second generation hero. Enjoy!
